Loulé is a large market town just North of Faro and has amny historic areas to visit. The town lends itself to a huge Saturday market, where you can buy fresh fruit & fish to a teeshirt or table cloth,

The market town has over 20.000 residents and its main building of interest is the renovated market hall (Mercado municipal) which re-opened in early 2007 which has a classic moorish style influence in its architecture

Loule also holds an annual Carnival in February with its colourful procession close to the centre of the city. Loule Carnival is considered one of the best in Portugal.

If you visit Loule, in the Algarve you must visit  the remains of the Arab castle and the Gothic Church of Sao. Clemente.
